Abby Lee Brazil: stage and screen
Four moments trace the different settings of Abby Lee Brazil’s work, from California appearances to immersive production.
April 2016: City of Industry
A review by Myles Shaffer places Abby at the City of Industry Spearmint Rhino on 29 April 2016. This is a specific stop in her live career, two years after the beginning of her published screen chronology.
The evening brought contemporary music, movement and time with attendees into the same engagement. Rihanna and Drake, Future and The Weeknd, and Desiigner featured in the soundtrack, giving this stage appearance its own musical setting.
November 2016: a Rialto booking
Later that year, an announcement scheduled her for the Rialto Spearmint Rhino on 18 and 19 November. It identified The Lee Network as her representation for those appearances, a detail belonging to that period of her career.
The Rialto booking followed the spring appearance in City of Industry, placing live engagements at two points in her California calendar. Photographs and autographs were also part of the announced weekend, alongside the time on stage.
June 2019: immersive production
A production announcement in June 2019 introduced another virtual-reality collaboration, presented in 3D and 6K. The producer referred to earlier work together, placing the project within an existing working relationship.
Those specifications describe the recording and presentation format. They mark a different production setting from a stage engagement, where performer and audience share a room, and from an ordinary flat-screen release.
2020: recognition and a live broadcast
The 2020 XBIZ Awards nominations included Abby in a virtual-reality performance category. Separately, a January announcement scheduled a guest livestream for 13 February, from 4 to 5 p.m. Pacific time.
The February appointment was a one-hour guest slot. Together, the nomination and the broadcast added immersive recorded performance and live online participation to a chronology that already included modelling, dance and in-person stage appearances.
